Thomas self-referred for support from BBO because he had been made redundant 11 months ago and had not had any interviews in that time. He wanted to provide for his family as his partner was pregnant and he had two young Step-Daughters, however despite this his motivation had taken a knock due to the length of time he had been un-employed.
Thomas struggles with reading and writing due to being dyslexic and he also suffers with cerebral palsy and epilepsy which he felt was a huge obstacle to obtaining work.
Thomas received support from Job Coach Kate to read and understand job descriptions and with physically completing application forms. One application form was a written one for a local Medical Production Company, this was completed with support from his Job Coach and they were successful with achieving an interview.
Following the interview, Thomas was offered a 6 month 37.5 hour position as a Production Team Member. This contract has now been made permanent.
Thomas said “Being employed has changed my life, I am now able to provide for my family”. Thomas loves the work and being part of a team. He sees his future continuing within this employment and hopefully one day securing a promotion.
